BIPA TEACHING ENHANCEMENT TRAINING HELD AT USU LANGUAGE CENTER
The Language Center of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) organized a BIPA Teaching Enhancement Training held in Room D of the USU Language Center Building. The activity carried two main themes, namely “Folklore as Teaching Material for BIPA” and “Language and Ethnicity Dialogue as a Concept of Creative Process.”
This activity aimed to improve the competence of Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) instructors in developing creative, innovative, and culturally based learning materials. In addition, the training also served as a platform to strengthen understanding of the relationship between language, culture, and ethnicity in the BIPA learning process.
Participants received presentations on the use of folklore as a medium for teaching Indonesian to foreign speakers. Folklore was considered to have cultural values that could help foreign learners understand the language while also introducing them to the richness of Indonesian culture. Furthermore, discussions on language and ethnicity became an important part of developing creative approaches in BIPA teaching.
The training was conducted in an interactive and enthusiastic atmosphere. Participants actively joined discussion sessions, shared experiences, and discussed various learning strategies that could be applied in BIPA teaching.
Through this activity, the USU Language Center hopes to continue supporting the development of quality BIPA programs and to further introduce Indonesian language and culture to the international community.
